
Our Fruit Leathers are produced by pureeing the fruit (Not Stewed or Cooked), mixing the fruits and drying on trays, in low temperature dryers.
By not overheating the fruit we believe the fruits retain many of the fresh
fruit properties and nutrients, i.e. True flavours, natural sugars which digest
better than cane sugars etc. They have low G.I. (Glycaemic Index), no fat and
high fibre which we believe places our product on the top shelf as a healthy
food with fabulous flavours,
We source apples, pears and all of our temperate climate fruit from local orchards and where possible obtain tree ripened fruit to obtain maximum flavour and nutritional value. Apples and Pears are used as the base.
As drying dose not improve the flavour we use top quality fruit to ensure we gain optimum flavours in our fruit leathers. We do not stew the fruit, and as fruit varies in flavour from one variety to the next for many reasons, our fruit leathers can vary in flavour and texture from batch to batch, however we endeavour to maintain as much consistency as possible.
In winter many of our fruit leathers are quite brittle, especially on cold days. In summer, on hot days the fruit leathers tend to be soft but they will not be sticky. Currently we have over 40 Varieties on our order form, with more added frequently as we develop and refine new combinations. The possibilities are endless.
